KARINA VIANA

Karina first encountered the exhibition as a visitor. In the previous edition, she even left a drawing of Galadriel in the studio space and noticed that several children were interested in it. In 2026, she returns not just as a member of the public, but as a selected artist.

Art has been with her since she was very young. Karina says she was drawing even before she knew how to read.

ALCHEMY OF THE SOUL

The image of butterflies on a face constitutes an allegory that values ideas in such a way that they are freed and take flight in the creative mind. In this conception, they transform into caterpillars and then into butterflies, representing the transition from difficulty in decoding to fluent reading. The butterflies are positioned in different places on the face, indicating how words seem to float, spin, and change places for someone with dyslexia. The suggestion of flapping wings, however, translates the mental hyperactivity and cognitive effort required to focus attention on a static text in such a way that the mind absorbs the concept of the narrative proposed by a traditional text with creativity.

When I discovered the exhibition, I entered a world where I wasn't excluded.

I thought, "Wow, there are more people like me." I was so happy to be able to talk about dyslexia, to feel part of something, of a community.

People understood me, without judgment.

I told my husband, "Now I feel like I belong. I'm not excluded."

Because my whole life I've been excluded from things.

And there I wanted to participate in everything. I wanted to know when the next exhibition would be, I wanted to go back, participate again.

It was very important for me to feel like I was part of something.
