APATHY
The video-dance 'Apathy', directed, choreographed, and performed by Renata de Lélis, presents a vision of a body's relationship with itself and the world. Attempts to escape, whether through a window or an elevator, are unsuccessful. The title refers to a state of insensitivity and indifference that leads to an inert posture. The body's efforts are those of seeking rebirth, evoked in the brilliance of the mythical phoenix, which, upon dying, self-combusts and rises from its own ashes. The melody and lyrics by Rita Zart and Nina Nicolaiewsky represent this search for liberation and reconstruction. The daughter of artists, Renata was diagnosed with dyslexia at age 17, realizing that her difficult school trajectory was not due to being an artist, but to characteristics related to difficulties in reading, for example. Art, however, throughout this personal process, was a way of refuge, empowerment, and confrontation with prejudice and any kind of personal or collective obliteration.

WHAT SQUEAKS
The body is treated in the music video in a way that establishes multiple relationships with space. There is a dialogue with an object like a book, as well as a journey of the characters full of "stumbles." Various environments emerge, and nature interacts with beings associated with technology and machines. Furthermore, the presence of the mythical figure of the centaur brings reflections on the differences between essences and appearances, which reinforces the role of art as a "ranger," that is, a way of thinking and doing that leads to glimpsing new and symbolic aspects of what we usually call reality.

The video is a collaboration between various artists who use movement to express a wide range of emotions. The scenes, recorded individually on each artist's cell phone and then edited, range from bodies hanging or immersed in bathtubs, walking in a forest, or dancing near a wall outdoors or indoors. The versatility of situations points to the diversity of ways of seeing the world and relating to it, whether from an individual, collective, or holistic perspective.

I began my journey at 14 years old; I am the daughter of artists, and art has always been a part of my life. I was diagnosed with dyslexia at 17, after researching and discovering it myself. I didn't have support from my family, who only thought I was different because I was an artist. My school experience was very difficult, but art has always been a place of refuge and empowerment.
